Tie beams : 6.37 and 6.82 metres.
Tie beam and king post section:
350 x 250 mm
Principal rafters section: 250 x 250 mm
Braces section: 200 x 200 mm.

The kingposts are waisted, the notch at the top of the kingpost is to receive the ridge beam.
The ridge beams and handcut purlins can be seen on the right.

Bandsawn Oak Trusses

Decorative roof trusses: span 17', pitch 30°, green oak, bandsawn, adzed and coated in liniseed oil.

Oak trusses 2 years after installation

The same truss and purlins, installed, 2 years later.

This decorative oak roof truss has now been installed for over 12 years. A king post truss design in particular is structurally effiecient; suitable for a vaulted or cathedral ceiling.
